Majestic’s Reign In Bahrain

Majestic has enjoyed a warmer Christmas than the rest of us at West Ilsley, having travelled to Bahrain for the illustrious Bahrain Turf Series.

After a nail biting second place in the first race on December 20th, Majestic came back with an astonishing win in Bahrain this January 10th. Majestic overcame a wide draw and a slow start to land Bahrain’s valuable Al Dana Cup.

Ridden by Seamie Heffernan from stall 13 in a field of 15 rivals, the seven-year-old was making his second start in the Turf Series having missed out to Gavin Cromwell’s Snellen over the same trip the first time round.

With a slight fumble to his start, setting him back for the race to begin with, he was therefore left to chase the field through the early stages of the race. With extraordinary determination and burst of speed, he made significant progress in the final furlong. The locally-trained Merlin’s Beard had long held the lead as the post approached, but Majestic’s fast finish saw him swoop ahead of the line to prevail by a length and a quarter.

Jack was thrilled by his performance saying, “Absolutely delighted with Majestic’s winter in Bahrain. Obviously a great performance to finish second first time to a very good filly like Snellen, following it up with a great victory in the Al Dana Cup. He’d taken a bit of a hit in the handicap because of that win, and gone up 9 pounds. All rows lead to the final on the 6th of March in Bahrain and hopefully he can continue to run well, pick up points and to be the top points scorer in the Bahrain Turf Series would be an amazing achievement from him. I’m very delighted with his season so far.”
