Flash Bardot sweeps home at Newbury
A smashing return to the winner’s enclosure on Friday as the Six or Sticks Partnership’s FLASH BARDOT cruised to the front and galloped to the line to take the mile and a half Dubai Duty Free Fillies Handicap in convincing fashion.
A mud splattered David Propert provided all the evidence needed of the testing conditions upon the daughter of Sixties Icon’s return, having sat in behind the leaders throughout. She was travelling by far the best three furlongs out before cantering to the front and taking a decisive lead at the furlong pole.
Whether she was idling or just merely tiring inside the distance, it didn’t matter as she won cosily enough to the delight of her ultra enthusiastic owners and a delighted trainer.
“That was great to see and aside from a somewhat disappointing show at Bath last time out she’s been a model of consistency for us this year. She’s by Sixties Icon so clearly revels in those conditions and I couldn’t be happier for her syndicate and for the filly herself.
“She’s come out of the race really well and we’ve got a lot to be happy about as the autumn has arrived.
“Sure, I want them all to win every time but we’ve been knocking on the door and our form is holding up really well. Staincliffe, Hiromichi, Kalama Sunrise, Jungle Mac, Metal Merchant and Rathgar have all hit the post in the past through days and although nobody wants to finish second, we’re in rude health and the juveniles especially have really pleased me.”
