Miguel takes Ripon Nursery on handicap debut

A pleasing and dominant success for the Fruci, Packenham & Walsh owned MIGUEL saw the juvenile record his second career success from only four starts at Ripon on Saturday.

With Connor Beasley up, there was no hanging about as MIGUEL enjoyed a pillar to post display, holding off all of his six rivals to record a length and three quarter success over Pick You Battles with Jack very much looking forward to the future with the son of Phoenix of Spain.

“That was pleasing and he’s in great form at present, going the right way and he’s a doddle to train really. He’s got a great temperament, relishes the job and pleasingly is another who didn’t cost the earth but has shown that he’s a colt with a future.

“He’s yet to finish out of the first three in all of his starts and off a rating of 73 is clearly competitive. Now it’s down to his revised mark but he’s progressive, so hopefully he’ll stay ahead of the handicapper.”
