Miguel Triumphs at Brighton

A dominant display by the thrice raced MIGUEL at Brighton this afternoon saw the juvenile son of Phoenix of Spain break his maiden after two previously placed efforts.

In the hands of Tom Marquand, MIGUEL made pretty much all the running to justify favouritism and prevail by over two lengths.

In truth, the West Ilsley colt set the standard by his previous performances at Chepstow (2nd on debut in July and 3rd a month later at the same track) and Jack was more than happy to see MIQUEL enter the winner’s enclosure.

“That was pleasing to see and it’s always a relief to have an odds on shot get the job done. He’s a lovely colt who has always pleased us and Tom gave him the confidence to go about his work.

“You never quite know at times but he put his head down and ran through the line. he was possibly dossing a bit in front but that’s a good thing because he’ll come on a lot for it and he’s going in the right direction.”
