Hiromichi records his sixth career win at Pontefract
The famiar silks of owner breeders Jon & Julia Aisbitt made another appearance in the winner’s enclosure after HIROMICHI’s facile success at Pontefract on Monday afternoon.
The five year old grey gelding’s victory in the 0-75 mile handicap in west Yorkshire came in convincing fashion under Rossa Ryan as the pair scraped the paint in behind the leaders throughout before making a challenge inside the distance and leaving his fifteen rivals trailing in his wake to record a resounding victory two lengths ahead of second best Global Spirit.
This was HIROMICHI’s sixth career success and his third of 2023. It was a season which started with a bang but the son of Dabarasim has only truly returned to form after being given a break in July. Jack is chuffed that he’s bounced back to form.
“Very pleasing to see him enjoying himself again. He went off the boil when reaching a career high mark of 75 in mid summer but has returned in the autumn in great nick.
“He was just edged out at Musselburgh on his return and ran solidly at Lingfield at the end of September, but yesterday fell perfectly for us and he did it well.
“He’ll end up around the 75 mark now but hopefully he’ll continue to hold his for for a few weeks yet. He’s a yard favourite is ‘Big Mitch’ and everyone was chuffed to see him get his head in front and Jon & Julia have been brilliant - they’ve shown the same support with me as they always did with Dad and I can’t thank them enough.”
