Cajetan and Elforleather Continue the Winning Streak

Cajetan and Elforleather Continue the Winning Streak for West Ilsley Stables

Five wins in four days gives the West Ilsley Team plenty to be excited about!

Cajetan Comes of Age to Win at Kempton Park

Cajetan came up trumps in the Try Unibet’s Handicap over 6f at Kempton Park, on Wednesday, 1st May. The 1st of the month proved to be good luck for The Betty Channon Syndicate, as Cajetan won by 3/4L under jockey James Doyle.

Jack praised the 3-year-old gelding, saying, “Cajetan gave a smart performance at Kempton. He’s a different horse this year and I felt like he was always going to win. We’re hoping he is a horse who will keep progressing through the handicaps - he’s on the up.”

Elforleather Proves He Can Go…at Brighton

The adage ‘small changes make a big difference’ certainly proved to be right for Elforleather. Winning the Old Ship Handicap over 1m2f at Brighton by an impressive 1 ¼ L under jockey Ed Greatrex, Jack confirmed he was pleased to make the move to the turf.

“He’s a horse who has been slow in maturing, but really starting to come to hand now and the switch to the turf made all the difference. He’s a lovely horse who stays well and will hopefully progress up through the grades, before potentially becoming a decent ‘stayer’ - or even a jumper. We are very happy with him.”
